Tropes of Light and Colour One of the most interesting phenomena of vision concerns colour and its relationship to luminous phenomena, on which there is a vast literature, often of a reductionist nature. The literature on colour terms in the field of linguistics has been given momentum by the research of Berlin, Kay and Heider at the end of the 60s, 204 Paradigmi. Rivista di critica filosofica while the ethno-anthropological research and debate in recent years has availed itself of the quantitative methods and the results of neuroscience. The discrepancy between the results obtained, and the debate thereof presently taking place, suggest that the analysis of colour and light terms should be undertaken on a qualitative basis, in order to be able to explain the exactness of the metaphorical descriptions of these phenomena, based on specific laws of perceptual organization. Keywords: Colour, Conceptualization, Light, Metaphor, Phenomenal primitives, Qualitative science.
