The experience referred to in this article can be counted with numerous others that psychotherapists groupanalysts have been conducting and practicing for a few decades, in various institutions, from the health field to schools, businesses, prisons. The author reflects on the psychotherapeutic work conducted using an unusual module with a group of prisoners diagnosed as alcoholics. The unusual part is due to the co-conduction of these by a psychotherapist and an ex alcoholic, sober for eleven years, trained in the conduction of self-mutual-help groups, following a theoretical model elaborated by a psychiatrist from ex Yugoslavia, V. Hudolin. Their contemporary presence in the groups, over a period of five years, produced a synergic collaboration between who, with a groupanalysis theoretical orientation, had the possibility of reading individual and group events in relational terms, and who, with lived experiences of substance dependence, was able to bear witness to the difficult process of emancipation completed but never definitively reached.
Keywords: Jail, self-mutual-help groups, alcoholics, co-conduction, groupanalysis.
