The case of a female patient who experienced sexual abuse from the father during childhood and at the same time received her mother’s confidences is discussed. The unbearable contradiction of these traumatic situations determined in this patient a dissociative condition of her personality. Some hypotheses regarding the unconscious meaning of her sexual behaviour during adolescence are proposed, as well as reflexions on the possibility that psychotherapy offered her to reach a higher level of integration of her personality.
