Over the last years, the digitalization and data compression have enabled a growing integration of functions into formerly separate products or services and the emergence of new converged industries. Studies have demonstrated that in turbulent business environments, such as those created by digital convergence, market leadership goes to the firm that is a repeat strategic innovator. In these business Apple Inc. achieved a sustained competitive advantage developing the capacity to continuously strategically innovate over time, deviating from the industry rules of competition and creating substantially superior customer value. The aim of the paper is to provide, on the basis of the business model adopted by Apple, some explanations about the decisions to be taken to develop a strategic innovation capacity to managing the opportunities provided by digital convergence.
