The Author wonders what is meant by clinical thought and argues that this has to do with the presence of authenticity and surprise. He also argues that in clinical work every patient has the right to be considered in his/her singularity. In this regard, the Author cites a book Theodor Reik wrote in 1935, The surprised psychologist. According to Reik, we should mistrust psychologists who are never surprised.
