The article proposes some documents related to the Italian alpinist expeditions to the Iranian mountains are proposed. The Italian presence in the country suffers from a delay when compared to the other European alpinist adventures, revealing the nationalist nature of the support that the Italian Alpinist Club, the Cai, gave to the first expeditions. However, in the following years, this aspect went under a substantial marginalization: scientific curiosity, sport competitiveness and fascination for the "Other" are the dominant feelings expressed by the alpinists in the later travel relations
