The authoress emphasizes how the transition of Sesto San Giovanni, a small village near Milan at the beginning of the past century and an important industrial centre forty years later, had been accompanied by cultural changes and how these ones had marked not only the urbanistic outline. The memory of these transformations is today as one of the most important keys to save the identity of the city and his people when large spaces resulting from the industrial closing down happened in the last two decades.
