The interview explores a possible parallel between psychoanalysis and urban studies/town planning. Both of these are non-linear and non-mathematical sciences, which usually deal with a range of conflicts. However, they are also conscious of not being able to eliminate or resolve these conflicts definitively or permanently. By examining the interactions between the world of the political, economic and technical operators and the local community, areas not often explored are delineated from which new forms of active participation are developed. In this way citizens can move from a sort of urban unconsciousness to a position from which they can rethink the their own way of inhabiting space and discovering new facets of the city and new aspects of their own wishes.

Keywords: Conflicts, pluralism, needs, negotiation, urban center, urban spatiality
