In recent years media and politics have often turned their attention to bioethical issues, sometimes of mere individual interest. This probably stems from the fact that the Welfare State takes care of life and health of individuals, and from the tendency to socialization of the body, on which it was built a real economy. At the same time, medicine has taken on additional social duties, and this has contributed to the process, and settled "normality" models to promote and enforce. While an undue limitation of individuals by the State can harm human dignity and break the social contract, the crisis of the Welfare State raises important questions about the future.
