This article recounts the therapy of a couple stuck in the tunnel of the elaboration of its mourning which had not come to an end, this had caused the couple to stop its evolutionary path and had prevented the transition to a new stage in the family life cycle. Initially the work focused on the reactivation of the collaboration, on the rediscovery and renegotiation of mutual expectations and on the modes to be used to respond to partner needs in a more functional way. Then, the action of telling and living the history of the couple for the second time, allowed them to share their fears and their grief which were due to their loss. The loss thus started to make sense and to get a place in their life history eventually being accepted. This step allowed them to complete the elaboration of their mourning. Eventually, they both found out a new image for their self and the partner. Thus, being aware of their current resources they succeeded in starting their evolutionary path anew.
