Migration is a complex, global phenomenon. This paper proposes an analysis of some of the issues associated with the regulation of migratory flows in European sports. In particular, the study proposed will illustrate how sport migrations can be considered "labour" types of migration, which cannot be isolated from their socio, cultural and institutional contexts. In this regard, some of the most significant features of sport migrations in Italy and Europe will be examined. Among these, the impact and implications of the Bosman case - arguably the turning point in terms of the relationships between European Union and sport - will be illustrated. Finally, the case study of Italian volleyball is examined as an example of the complexity which often characterises migratory acts and their regulations in sport. The findings, although only partial at this stage, aim to (re)promote a debate on the relationships between sport, mobility and migration in Europe.
