This essay aims to show how the relation between income inequalities and social diseases is relevant at regional level, according to the ideas about a) ineffectiveness of economic variables in representing communities’ development and b) significant variability within Countries of such phenomena, other than among Countries. Keywords: Gini index, social inequalities, regions.
