The text of a conference held at the MART of Rovereto on December 17th 2011 was employed on the occasion of a show the museum devoted to Severini’s work. The theme of one of the paintings on show, which has been through particular vicissitudes (it was completed the first time in 1911, was then lost, and was re-painted by the author in 1959-60) and was entitled The Dance of the Pan Pan at the Monico, was picked up as the main theme for the visit to the museum. The painting is also seen as the expression of the artist’s inner emotional condition, a state which accompanied all of his work actually, his life. It was boldly observed that even in a photograph a bird’s-eye view of a street the artist’s hometown Cortona devoted to him after his death - it is possible to trace the graphic movement and colors of Severini’s Pan Pan.
Keywords: Severini, futurism, psychoanalysis, biography, work of art, emotion.
