The author explores different ways of identity recomposition, experienced by young men and women originally from South and Central America and living in Madrid, involved at different levels in street groups. Through the process of ethnogenesis - according to which immigrant boys and girls turn themselves Latinos in the host society - it is for them possible to overcome the dual absence and get into a space of double presence. The mechanisms of agency taken into account are four: the reconstruction of a Latin American identity (or negritud for young dominican people); the issue of gender, sexuality and parenting; the question of trapicheo, which normalizes the delinquent activity by transforming it into a possibility to work; the question of becoming pandilleros, taking its stigma to turn it into an emblem.
Keywords: Madrid, giovani, identità, agency, gruppi di strada.
