The reflection on the quality of work into labor law starts from the reconstruction of the link work-dignity enshrined in the Italian Constitution, now penalized by the logic of the market, but still extremely valuable to implement effective policies for economic growth. The author shows how the quality of work, as well as representing a value in itself, increases the productivity of enterprises, through the enhancement of professionalism and training of workers, an investment that is difficult to reconcile with the excessive labor flexibility. In this direction, of absolute importance is the role of the union, called to make the labor more valuable, renewing the content of contractual policy. All this in belief that a development that focuses on quality of work, even as productivity factor, cannot be separated from all that concerns the rights. In this way, a commercial vision of the work will not prevail and the constitutional values will win.
