Hotel House in Porto Recanati, the Serenissima and the Cita compound in Padua and Marghera were built in the ‘60s in order to accomplish the housing necessities of peculiar population: tourists, white-collar workers’ families and students. Due to the lack of effective housing policies particularly for disadvantaged groups and with the intensification of migration flows, these compounds were affected by housing concentration of migrant population. What these habitats have in common is the strong stigmatization process that describes them as pathological places that can disrupt the consolidated urban metabolism. The article stresses the heterogeneity and the contextual character of these territories in order to go beyond their representation of being homogeneous spaces.
Keywords: Immigration, Residential Concentration, Functionalism, Territorial Stigmatization, Policies, Socio-spatial Capital
