This article sheds light on the restorative practices that aim to enhance the role of the victim - too often reduced to that of witness for the prosecution - thus enabling him/her to actively participate in the trial, to understand what happens, to make use of adequate support services and assistance, to be heard with all safeguards necessary to avoid further harm, also of psychic nature, resulting from the contact with the other parties.

Keywords: Mediation, victim, probation (messa alla prova), responsibility, youth criminal justice process.
