The present paper describes the main features of one of the clinical tools used in Ericksonian hypnosis: the fairytale. One of the principal aims of this work is to analyse the features of a fairytale, highlighting the differences between fairytale, allegory and myth, as well as the main differences between traditional tale and hipnoterapeutic tale. Furthermore, the author will describe the importance of the rapport and the narrative isomorphism as well, both meant as vehicles for the con-struction of hipnoterapeutic stories. It will be described, at least, the use of the fair-ytale into a clinical setting and in a psychothetapy session; how, when and whit who it is advisable to use such kind of clinical tool. It will be provided some ex-amples of a fairytale made up by the author and used into psychotherapy session.
