In this article the Author argues the personal elements also cross to the gates of the factory, manifesting themselves in the centrality of the human person in the work relationship. However, in today’s digital society, although technological innovations can constitute factors for growth in well-being and quality of life, it is also true that they are likely to affect the inviolable rights of the human person, especially on the most intimate and private value sphere concerning the employee. It is enough to consider that with the large diffusion in the companies of modern computer technology, the worker becomes potentially subject to constant, delocalized, capillary, pervasive and indiscriminate control. A reasonable balance between the employer’s interest in exercising his power of control and the values of the employee’s privacy and dignity is essential, because in the fulfilling of his performance the worker confers his own person.
Keywords: Protecting the employee’s privacy; Privacy policy employees; jobs digitization and protection of personal privacy; data protection and employers’ power limits; employers’ powers and jobs privacy balancing.
