The consumer protection also extends to the understanding of food’s environ-mental footprint, in particular with respect to its impact estimated during the entire lifecycle and, taking into account the effects of climate change, the impact meas-ured by suitable technical regulations and, subsequently, communicated with spe-cific assurances provided by signs and messages. Notably, the zero food miles rep-resents a common term used on a regional basis as a guarantee of a food chain defined in its territorial dimension (regional) as more appropriate for the purpose of monitoring the sustainability of food production. The interest, in commercial trans-actions, in supporting consumption of ecological products, leads to assess with se-verity the series of advertising messages towards the expectations of consumers
