The Author uses the description of a couple treated in psychothera-py, to highlight how significant are mutual needs and expectations for the one-on-one relationship building and in the deal struck by the partners. In the analysis of the couple dynamics, she underlines the role played by the internalized relational models which are re-actualize in the relationship with the other. The case treated is an ex-planation of an interlocking characterized by the contradiction be-tween the official program and the world map of the spouses. It is pre-cisely the incongruity between these two levels that results in the fail-ure of that joint which looks perfect at the beginning.

Keywords: ouple, couple contract, internalized relational models, official program, world map.
