‘Le Torri’ is a self-recovery pilot action for a public building not included in the public housing estate, that will remain the property of the City of Florence as social housing. Developed in response to a specific regional call and now being implemented, this intervention was promoted by an architect/designer, who became the ‘coagulant agent’ for the establishment of the self-builders association. Driven by the desire to put to test new forms of cohousing and shared management of urban services, this practice helps to investigate the complexities of the building phase: from the need for a clarification of the rules on safety; to the provision of public funds for the training of self-builders; up to the management of personal needs and of the many unexpected events during the construction activity.
Keywords: Cohousing; building activity; rules on safety
