Stress risk among members of the professional world of security has been ad-dressed by sociologists, psychologists, psychiatrics, and by security and defence Institutions. This contribution illustrates the rich debate about stress risk among members of the professional world of security, focusing on the most relevant normative and regulatory interventions, and on organizational and procedural changes that have take place within security and defence Institutions. A special attention is devoted to a broader cultural change which shifts the at-tention from security professionals (described in terms of functions, duty, training, and responsibility), to persons, thus highlighting the special need for a global atten-tion devoted to the entire human being. Such innovation can contribute to provide a concrete support against stress risk.
Keywords: Risk stress; law enforcement; suicide; security operator.
