The Napoli Afragola High Speed railway station, designed by Zaha Hadid, represents the core of the new design of an area within the Neapolitan hinterland that in the next few years is expected to be equipped with both naturalistic and technological green areas, productive and commercial settlements and public facilities. The project area is located within the municipality of Afragola, in the ancient ager campanus, at the gates of Naples, where the architecture of the new infrastructure favors a new urban and territorial identity. This paper illustrates the station in relation to the territory and the town emphasizing the new landmark role of the station in the landscape of the volcanic plain next to Vesuvius.
