The "Plate of Sicily", so named for the heraldic eagle of the Swabian Kingdom of Sicily that stands out on the front, is a luster plate of controversial dating, made in the Iberian Peninsula between the 13th and 15th centuries. The authors, through humanistic analysis, support the dating to the thirteenth century, as the work of an Islamic workshop in Valencia at the service of Queen Constance of Swabia, daughter of Manfred King of Sicily and wife of Peter III of Aragon.
