The article suggests a model, Tridimensional Family Diagnosis (DTF), created to systematize a systemic diagnostic tool. DTF is intended to provide a framework of reference to talk about families and the family. It also integrates simple and accurate coordinates, already solid in the literature of the field, within a unitary mapping, thus contributing to an improved description of the complexity of the family territory. The model, based on the assembly of traditional concepts, is precisely defined yet open to subjective interpretation. Nevertheless, DTF provides a unique and original representation. DTF focuses on Structure, Process and Symbolism, broken down in fifteen components.
Keywords: family, diagnosis, structure, process, symbolicity, model.
