The homo faber fortunae suae forgotten by social workers In the article, the author notes the surprising scientific naivety of many interventions carried out in the field of child protection, surprising because of professionals with good human and technical potential. A clinical case with very generic characteristics allows us to exemplify the most frequent operating methods and present their alternatives with the advantages that would ensue. The article continues by proposing explanatory hypotheses of the trend towards elementary diagnosis and interventions, favoring the factor most linked to the same choice to carry a profession of help in the psycho-social sphere.

Keywords: protection of minors, active child, pragmatics of conduct, operational banality, professional variables, operator histo ry.
