This paper provides an alternative geography of marginal territories in Italy, different from the one developed by the National Strategy for Inner Areas (2014). Thanks to a cluster analysis, based on demographic, socioeconomic and mobility variables, the work identifies 4 different conditions of marginality helpful to design policies for redressing territorial inequalities.
