Gabriele Proglio’s work on the anti-G8 demonstrations of 2001 is not so much an attempt to reconstruct in detail the collective history of the movement that animated the events in Genoa, but rather an analysis of the construction of a memory which is both individual and collective. The memories of the protagonists are, in fact, the result of a process of intersubjective construction, in which individual memories are, also, the product of the connections between the individual’s own community of reference. From the memories of the interviewees there emerges a clear characteristic of the antiglobalisation movement which is markedy at odds with the Italian tradition - namely the dense web of so many diverse stories which, despite their differences, found on the streets of Genoa a great moment of shared collectivity.
