Pietro Costa has always imposed himself in the national and international historiographical context to privilege the discursive dimension in giving account of the juridical and political realities. Starting from Jurisdictio (1969), dedicated to the analysis of a lemma-pivotal in the medieval political concept, to finish with the monumental volumes on the history of the concept of citizenship, Civitas (1999-2001), Costa has shown us the palimpsests where the norms and the institutes of a determined historical period lie. In this paper are therefore discuss the objects and method of his historiographical work. The result was this dialogue that sought to highlight the originality of an intellectual path, atypical for a legal historian.
Keywords: Pietro Costa, Legal history, History of Political Thought, Conceptual History.
