This section of the current issue collects many contributions, mainly from the research field, where hypnosis has proven to have a strong role both as a therapeu-tic tool and as a methodology of investigation. In particular, some studies in the latest months used hypnosis as an experimental paradigm in clinical trials that compared it with other methods of intervention; in other studies hypnosis was ad-ministered in the treatment of pain. Furthermore, some contributions investigated its neurophysiological mechanisms as well as neuropsychological ones, as in the case of the response set theory by Irving Kirsch.
