The article explores the connections between Jewish history and the Italian decol- onization through the prism of the Libyan Jewry’s mobility to Italy between 1948 and 1951 and between 1967 and 1970. At the same time, the analysis sheds light on how the attitude of the Italian autorities towards the Jews of Libya was moved by the hope of an Italian return to Libya in the immediate postwar period, and by the willingness to maintain sound political, commercial and cultural ties with its former colony after Libyan independence.
