The paper contributes to the understanding of Foundations of Banking Origin (FOBs) by focusing on and problematizing their public utility. By investigating a real estate transformation project by a FOB as an experience of action in a public arena, the essay highlights the different action orientations of FOBs, the interactive definition of their projects and their public utility, and the influence on these processes of culturally shared grammars.
