The essay analyses the character of magistrate Giuseppe Guido Loschiavo through his writings, in particular the novel Piccola Pretura (Small Magistrate’s Court) of 1948 as well as the monographs and arti-cles he wrote on the mafia phenomenon of the 1920s and 1930s, framed as a crime of association, and his involvement as public prose-cutor in the mafia processes arising from the police operations of Pre-fect Mori during fascism, assessing the coherence between these three profiles: literary, historical and legal.
