In the debate on the urban issue, an established analytical category (Mudan Marelli, 2020) is that of territorial stigmatisation (Wacquant, 2008). The present analysis explores the case of the Nuova Ostia neighbourhood (Rome) through a community study. Characterised by the elements – infrastructural, urbanistic and socio-economic – that according to studies are traditionally at the base of stigma creation (Schultz Larsen, Delica, 2019), at the same time it represents an interest-ing example. The outcome of combined processes of blaming, linked to criminal presence, spatial segregation, social exclusion, and institutional securitarian ap-proaches have produced very concrete effects on the community.
Keywords: urban issue; territorial stigmatisation; inequalities.
