This paper presents a group supervision session conducted in a territorial public service for adolescents. The setting includes a three-hour meeting divided into two sessions. One participant presents the clinical case, two participants perform the function of participant observers. The group, made up of 17 people, is multi-professional. The paper presents the work group, focused on the discussion of the case of Makena, an adopted 16-year-old Vietnamese girl. Adoption is interpreted as a group mind function: the experience of belonging to a group helps to become more open to accepting circulating thoughts. A common intellectual, emotional and phantasmatic area is established which allows a functional relationship between the parts and the whole, favoring the overcoming of the phases of minor integration in the group (Neri, 1979). During the session it is possible to observe the embryonic development of a multiple, multifocal, polyvalent thought (Dorliguzzo, 2016; Corrao, 1995). The paper analyses the characteristics of the setting and the relationship with the institution, the resources and the limits of fixed-term groups with limited time.
