The text explores and discusses the topical issues of living in intermediate mountain areas within an emblematic landscape like the Costiera dei Cech in Valtellina. These places are characterized by demographic phenomena that have a strong impact on spatiality. Therefore, they require deep and integrated regeneration strategies, able to bridge the gap between architecture and politics. By systematizing a series of research and design occasions, the essay proposes a working method capable of building primarily relationships and connections, both physical and virtual. From large-scale interpretations, through the stress of sequences of sections, to punctual interventions on historic centers and terraced slopes, projects become tools for building more cohesive communities.

Keywords: landscapes; traces; territorial connections
