U3 IQuaderni is the journal of the Dipartimento di Architettura di Roma Tre. The journal accepts interdisciplinary submissions: being concerned with urban studies in the broad sense of the term, it accepts investigations and reflections on architecture and planning, but also on landscape, geography, urban policy, anthropology, and civic art. The topics of interest for the jour-nal are: critiques of the current state of cities; the analysis, observation, and transformation of space and housing; the building of common spaces as spaces for action, prioritising ecology, sustainabili-ty, engagement and collaboration within communities, practices of transformation and adaptation of cultural heritage. The journal wants to participate in, and contribute to, the academic debate on these topics, highlighting the scientific output of the Department and valorizing the contributions of the academic communities of Architecture and Urban Studies at other universities-Italian and foreign.
Each issue of the journal is divided into two sections. The first section, introduced by an editorial, contains several single articles: each of which has either been requested by the editorial board or selected from among those submitted. The length of the articles in this section will be between 25,000 and 35,000 characters and there will be 6-8 per issue. The second section will contain a thematic longform, the topic of which may be proposed by the author(s) or chosen following a call for papers. The longform can be co-authored. The article’s length will be between 60,000 and 90,000 characters. The journal also publishes reviews of books and of cultural events.
