This study contributes to the organizational literature on employee involve-ment in the decisions that affect their work and the organization they belong to. In particular, the study focuses on the relationship between employee voice mecha-nisms and organizational performance and on how such relationship varies de-pending on the level of organizational human capital. The analysis of 168 Italian companies shows that both employee voice mechanisms and organizational hu-man capital have a positive relationship with firm performance. In addition, the results indicate that the highest organizational performance levels occur in com-panies where high employee voice and high human capital are jointly present. These results thus support the idea that practices directed at enhancing employee involvement and human capital complement each other, leading to superior com-pany performance.
