This article analyzes the procuraduría that Manuel de Frías held in Madrid, between the years 1614 and 1618, to represent and defend the interests of the cities of the province of Paraguay and Río de la Plata. The stay in court of this agent constitutes a way to address the problem of the configuration of an interaction channel between the River Plate space and the court, since it inserts the Buenos Aires attorney's office into a broader framework of regional representation. This approach not only makes it possible to relate court management with the power disputes experienced in the city of Buenos Aires itself, but also with the processes of normative regulation of the River Plate trade, territorial articulation and jurisdictional redefinition that affected a good part of the southeast of the Audiencia de Charcas. This approach to the main channel of interaction between the town councils of the River Plate area and the Crown acquired its appearance in a field of communication and negotiation constituted by the action of multiple agents that represented interests that, eventually, could be diverse, concurrent or contradictory.
