In the last decade, Dubai has certainly proved to be one of the most dynamic ‘emerging cities’ of all time. Behind record figures, however, the process was fuelled by a very precise territorial development logic. Territory, space and society were conceived from a quite unique perspective, so as to catalyse and sustain the rapid establishment of the city worldwide. ‘Section’, ‘thematise’ and consequently also ‘segregate’, seem to have been the key methods adopted. The purpose of this article is to examine the mechanisms and consequences of this sort of territorial planning, thus aiming at a better understanding of the pitfalls and challenges that this process entails. In particular, the theory put forward for the context examined suggests that the mechanisms generating urban segregation have been completely reversed from a mere ‘ex post’ result to a powerful ‘ex-ante’ development tool.

The workplace has been strongly redesigned by different processes such as productive restructuration, firms’ reorganisation according to a centre/network model from the local to the global level, deep management methods’ transformations. The article introduces and discusses an analytical device, the concept of controlled autonomy, particularly effective in grasping the main contradictory dynamic in core of these changes, characterising the regime of action of the contemporary capitalism. The concept of controlled autonomy aims at describing the social space produced by two different contradictory trends: on the one hand, a strong productive fragmentation accompanying the broad development of the sub-furniture chains; on the other hand, a trend in continuity with past modes of evolution of capitalist system, consisting in a rising concentration of the economic and financial power.
Popular accounts of labour market reforms in Western Europe have identified a process of dualisation over the last three decades, whereby service sector employ-ment has been deregulated while workers in the core manufacturing sector still en-joy high levels of employment protection and high wages. Two different labour market logics are thought to be in place between core and peripheral sectors and to co-exist in a stable equilibrium nurtured by the co-incidence of interests between capital and labour in core manufacturing sector, who jointly acted to safeguard workers in core sectors at the expense of peripheral service sectors. Building on the case studies of labour market and vocational training reform in Germany, this ar-ticle challenges this account. It is argued that processes of dualisation are best conceptualised as the contested outcome of a political conflict between capital and labour. Dualisation is not a stable equilibrium but rather the result of bargain-ing processes between employers who push for liberalization and unions who try to prevent it or - at least - mitigate it.
The study analyses the dual nature of mastering in the specific context of home care with reference to Romanian women employed in Italian families through life stories collected in Italy and Romania. This duality stems from the overlap between personal and work time in the home environment. The surveillance of Romanian domestic workers by the employers are combined with prejudices and sometimes sexual urges, expressed through verbal and non-verbal language, to define a coercive and segregating way of life and work, with consequences for workers in terms of exploitation, mental health and dependence on the employers’ needs, even to the extent of defining specific workers’transnational relationships with the family of origin and its social network. The processes of dehumanisation and exploitation will be analysed by interviewing women who have worked in care of Romanian nationalities and who have lived or still live in Italy. The analysis of the concept of dor, a Romanian word meaning the longing for what one has left behind and the yearning for what one will no longer find, leads to the formulation of a hypothesis while considering Romanian women employed in Italy in the ethnicized labour market: their being considered as less ‘immigrant’. In other words, as European care givers’ flows are not well controlled, it creates more favorable conditions for irregular work. This is a condition of masking or hiding persistent conditions of marginality and subordination.
The marketing literature has made important progress enhancing the understanding of how organisations can efficiently manage their channels of distribution. However, the complexity of current channel systems sets further issues that remain unaddressed especially in terms of corporate communication (CC). The purpose of this paper is to suggest promising research directions in this domain presenting the main features and definition of Dual Marketing Communications (DMC). Different opportunities to connect multiple channel design - through Dual Marketing (DM) - with corporate communication flows’ advantages (from supplier to manufacturer, from supplier to final customers and from supplier and manufacturer to final customer) are proposed. Particularly, the chance to integrate CC management and DM research is highlighted in order to enrich channel value network with an original multi-channel strategic communication approach.
Although companies frequently sell to both end-consumers and business customers, the practice of dual marketing has been scarcely studied in the marketing literature. Despite the increasing interest in corporate sustainability, no studies have provided systematic observations regarding these types of companies and their sustainability communication activities. Drawing on a thorough review of the literature, this article aims to fill this gap with an empirical contribution focused on evaluating whether dual marketers adopt appropriate sustainability communication in the digital context. Using the OSEC model, the corporate websites of 174 companies included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Word Index (DJSWI) 2015 were assessed. Our findings revealed a positive outlook, highlighting a significant commitment to sustainability disclosure. However, they show a pragmatic approach to legitimacy, as they are not strongly characterized by a strategic orientation and do not show a strong commitment to stakeholder interaction and engagement. These results provide indications for helping dual marketers improve their digital sustainability communication.
Dual career athletes play a crucial role in the sustainable development of sports and society. Balancing education, professional training, and athletic commitments fosters long-term career stability while enhancing social and economic inclusion. Effective dual career policies mitigate financial and psychological risks, equipping athletes with essential skills for post-sport careers. Investing in structured dual career frameworks benefits both individuals and the broader sports ecosystem, ensuring long-term viability and resilience. Collaboration among stakeholders is key to promoting sustainability and inclusion in sports through dual career opportunities.

The distinction between dry and wet cultures seems to be out-of-date. The case of the European youth is emblematic. The factors which falsificated this distinction are the changements occured in drinking practices due to the globalization of youth culture and the communicative power of alcohol industries.
