In 1975 it started a furious polemic campaign in the Italian press about Renzo De Felice book Interview on fascism to which mostly leftist historians, politicians and other intellectuals participated. The tv journalist Giacovazzo organized a round table with Renzo De Felice and five of the most eminent Italian historians of the contemporary age to debate with him his research on fascism. The five historians were the following professors: Gaetano Arfé, Gabriele De Rosa, Aldo Garosci, Gastone Manacorda, Rosario Romeo. The scholars discussed the controversial themes of De Felice interpretation of fascism and, although sometimes critical to him, fairly remained on the pertinent ground of historical analysis.
