The aim of this article is to promote discussion around the complexities and the potential to transform groups termed "preventives"- so-called because they have been formed for users of health centres in which prevention is the main focus. The author of this article worked with groups in family health centres using the theoretical framework of group analysis. For several years she studied the dynamics of such groups and together with colleagues has highlighted some variables which characterises them..
