From the schizophrenogenic mother to the genotypic vulnerability: update on the theme "family and schizophrenia" - This article reviews three intertwined lines of research on family-andschizophrenia with powerful clinical implications: the studies on Expressed Emotions, the longitudinal research following the "genetic high risk adepte-away" design, and the new community projects aimed at early, pre-clinical detection of youngsters with high risk of psychosis. Each of these research lines builds on elements of the other, toward a richer praxis based on a better understanding of the interaction between genetic proclivity and family environment.
