Historical research on the biography and political history of Aldo Moro has yet to offer substantive results. There is still no Moro biography based on solid facts. Renato Moro’s studies on Aldo Moro’s political training and entry into the Christian Democratic Party do deserve attention, as do works on the presence of Moro in Italian politics and within the Dc, even though in some cases these accounts appear ideologically motivated (Carocci, Menapace) or somewhat forced (Baget Bozzo). The relationships between Moro, the major leaders of the Dc, and the various elements of the Dc have received particular attention in the studies of Campanini, Giovagnoli, Scoppola, and Tassani. Moro’s role as political secretary of the Dc, the problems of the laity of the party and its relationship with the Church, have received more in-depth attention in the studies of Giovagnoli, D’Angelo, Totaro and others.
