Despite the author’s different psychoanalytical training and approach, he feels close to Racamier’s thinking and highlights the sense of integration he was able to achieve by placing himself between intrapsychic and interpersonal communication, combining a great talent for theoretical reflection with the ever present question: "How can we behave from a practical point of view?". Through a personal memory of a convivial meeting with Racamier and an account of a speech of his on the occasion of a clinical seminar, the author takes the opportunity to plainly perceive Racamier’s ability to be very specific and all-encompassing at the same time. In the light of these considerations, some clinical material drawn from institutional work carried out under supervision is then introduced. The purpose of this is to show how - if processing is guaranteed - detailed observation of what unfolds between the help given by the nurses and the psychotherapist can allow to achieve adequate integration.

Keywords: Psychoanalysis, Racamier, psychosis, supervision, caregiving group, institution.
