This article examines the connections between politics and psychopathology, and between politics and psychoanalysis. The paper debates on the contemporary transformation of politics into post-political biopolitics and the role played by humanistic science. To this effect, the very topical problem of lay psychoanalysis is raised. The paper then discusses the genealogical origin of politics and the forclosure that it is subject to through biopolitics. The author illustrates how - in actual practice even before theory - a similar treatment is reserved to the Freudian unconscious.
Keywords: Psychopathology, politics, psychoanalysis, lay psychoanalysis, post-political biopolitics, real violence
