In past years, integration in sexology between specialists, models and techniques has rapidly increased. This paper describes the evolution of approaches in sexual therapy until the spread out of the biopsychosocial (BPS) model in the health-care system. The integrated approach is the direct consequence and implementation of the BPS model in clinical sexology. Moreover, a brief report of the experience of the Institute of Clinical Sexology (ISC) of Rome in clinical practice and educational courses is presented. This example can underline limits and resources of the integrated approach, which ideally takes into consideration and gives the same importance to body, mind, relationship and environment.
