The author describes a case of serious infantile autism, with aggressive behaviour towards himself or others and treated with a psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapy. The use of the countertransference has been fundamental to make sense of gesture and behaviours and to create an intimate shared area. Within this area it has been possible to enter into resonance with the young patient to create an intimate relation that enabled the change in him.
