The author focuses on the different ways of writing a psychoanalytic session highlighting how, over time, changes in writing methods coincide with the ability, gradually acquired, to grasp aspects ever more complex and profound in a psychoanalytic session. The main steps of this process are retraced through the description of a clinical case concluding with some considerations about the meaning and the destiny of the "travel notes" in psychotherapy.
